My computer fails to...

My computer fails to update to win 10 creators edition. I've worked with Win reps to no avail. the update goes black screen at 75% . when I restart, the update continues to 82% then stalls and I have to reboot so it can recover the old win 10.

Cody/TechDeja, creator update failed. Black screen stall at 75% forced restart then red screen stall at 82%. Now restoring previous version.

ok I have one more thing to try, if that doesn't work then we would need to backup everything and reload Windows which would remove file and programs.

FAiled again, but with a different error - oxC1900101-ox40017. Failed on SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation

oh if you already have one put it in, restart and press F12 repeatedly, then boot from cd/dvd

Back up. You can reconnect

try this

Press ESC or F2to enter the BIOS setup
Under the Boot tab, enable Launch CSM
Under the Security tab, disable Secure Boot Control
Save the changes and exit
Press ESC or F2 to enter the BIOS setup again
Under the Boot tab, the DVD drive and available flash drives will appear. Set the DVD drive as the first boot option.
Save the changes and exit

It's installing. How do I check EFI size. It needs to be greater than 250 mb

delete all of the partitions listed, then there will just be 1 left. Install it there

My son's tech friend said he had to increase the size of EFI TO 250 mb. Then the install worked.

I would wait to see if it finishes

It's been well over an hour and no movement. The thought is boost EFI to 250 and run Windows update trouble shooter WU170509.

prob can power it off/on if it hasn't moved

The install restarted at 75%. If it runs all the way I'll be amazed. Otherwise I will reboot again and let it revert to previous win 10.

go to settings > system > about > what version is it on 1703 or 1709 ?

probably looking at burning a Windows 10 1709 dvd

that way when you reload you have updates already done

no its just not showing file extension. we'll need to try and burn a new dvd

burned a new dvd but still won't install. gives no error this time, but does not respond.

when you boot up from dvd, delete all the partitions then try to install again

I finally got the install to work. The next to last attempt ended after 35 min in a blue screen error indicating a number of caused, the last being bad media. I changed to a different dvd r and this morning I was able with some difficult updates to get 1709 installed.
