Today I used the big e browser to log on to the internet but a message came up with phone number(###) ###-####0291 preventing me from accessing the interned, threatening to lock down my machine andsaying it a message from mycrosoft

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Smartphone Expert to know before I connect you?

I need the e browser to be fixed as I did not trust that message to be a legitimate microsoft message

That's a fake alert being shown by a bogus/scam website - they are NOT affiliated with Microsoft or Windows in any way.

Do this now:

Please open up the Cortana search bar/icon at the bottom of your screen (by clicking on the circle icon just next to the Start button), and then type in www.google.com in the search bar and press ENTER.

It will open up the website in Edge now; next, hover your cursor over the other tab (which shows the alert) but do NOT click on it - just click on the "X" on the tab to close it out.

Next, close and re-open Edge normally; does it show up the alert/popup this time?
