Hi John, welcome and thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I am glad to assist you today.

I am very sorry about your issues. The procedures to fix this problem can be tedious but please be patient. I will guide you through the process.

First, you need to create a Windows 10 installation media through a USB or CD.

You need to use another computer to do this. Here is the link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10

On that page, select the option that says "Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC (click to show more or less information)" and follow the procedures described.
Please let me know when you are done by replying to me here so that I can help you further.

Best regards,
Jess

I have created using USB flash Drive
Software technician: Jess M., Computer Support Specialist replied 1 year ago

Using the procedures in the link I gave you?

Ask Your Own Software Question
Software technician: Jess M., Computer Support Specialist replied 1 year ago

Now, you need to boot the problem computer to the USB. Plug in the USB drive to the computer, restart the computer then press F2 or Del repeatedly until you get the BIOS screen. There you select the USB drive as the FIRST BOOT device, then restart the computer. The computer shall start in the tool saved on the USB, not of the corrupted Windows 10.

Tell me when done.

I got to the point to type the letter A. I pressed enter and got message the volume does not contain a recognized file system. When you said close the prompt, did you mean to press enter after putting the A or just type A and then close prompt window without pressing enter first?
Software technician: Jess M., Computer Support Specialist replied 1 year ago

Did you press "a" when the screen asked you to "add installation to boot list"?

Pressing a then will make the response of ALL

And you shall see "The operation completed successfully"

Then that is the time to close the command prompt by clicking on the X button

Ask Your Own Software Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I did press a to add installation to boot list, but got message that the volume does not contain a recognized file system.
Software technician: Jess M., Computer Support Specialist replied 1 year ago

What about the system feedback of the previous commands? Did it tell you that it was completed successfully?

Customer reply replied 1 year ago
In creating the installation tool on USB, I selected both 32 bit and 64 bit, since not sure what is on computer. only the 64 bit did boot, and eventually got to prompt... sounds like tool on USB may not be correctly created?
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Ok. Please close Command Prompt and then click Continue. Then tell me if you get to your desktop screen.

OK. I believe the file system of your drive where Windows was installed is corrupted. The next way to fix this is to perform factory reset. Did you backup all your important files already to an external drive?
Ask Your Own Software Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I do have important files on ONE DRIVE. and other files were last backed up some time ago. Also note, that the original OS was Windows 8. I did upgrade to Windows 10 in the free upgrade.
