I am unable to install Adobe flash on my IMAC-Safari version

Customer Question

I am unable to install Adobe flash on my IMAC-Safari version 10.11.5. I download the program and when I try to install it I get the message "Adobe reader could not open Adobe Flash because it is either not a supported file type or because the file is damaged." I checked and computer is JAVA enabled. I tried a number of times and even reinstalled Adobe reader and it didn't help.
