I have a laptop that a new hard drive was installed in by Best

Customer Question

I have a laptop that a new hard drive was installed in by Best Buy geek squad, with windows 8. I later upgraded online to windows 10. I have a message superimposed on the lower right corner of the screen continually that says "Activate Windows Go to settings to activate windows". When I go to settings to attempt to activate windows, it says I need a product or pass key or something. Where do I get the key?

My name is***** will help you to the best of my ability. You will likely need the installation disk for the previous version and have too call MS, they will charge you around $10 for additional, keys. You will likely need a number off of the disk for verification that it is authentic.

There's no disk. It was a free upgrade from MS

You can still call them and see what they advise you do
