I have an IMac running 10.6.8 with 4 GBs of memory. It will not download software updates nor can I download any more recent operating systems.

Thanks, ***** ***** it in Safe Boot mode and see if you run into issues: Restart your Mac As soon as you hear the Startup chime, press and hold the SHIFT key Continue to hold the Shift key until you see the Apple logo and progress indicator. Then, let go of the Shift key and let it boot to the Desktop (it may take longer than usual so please be patient). Now try downloading a newer release of OS X from the App Store. John

Ok, Can you please download and run the following tool? It will collect information about your system for diagnostic purposes. Run the app once it has downloaded On the first screen, feel free to choose a problem but you can leave description blank since you’ve already told me. Next, click “Start EtreCheck”. When it is finished collecting data, click “Share Report” and choose "Copy report to clipboard" Then click “I Accept” and paste it back to me as a reply. (You should be able to paste it back by right-clicking or Ctrl-clicking where you type your reply to me and then choosing Paste from the pop-up menu). Thanks,John

Hello. My name is*****'d be happy to help you troubleshoot this. I think we should run Disk Utility and verify , then repair any issues. We'll need to boot from an Install or Restore disc. DO you have one available to you?Something else we can try that is a bit simpler, is to install the updates one at time. This will sometimes work. I've had a similar issues in the past where I was able to select all of the updates that did not require a restart and get them to update successfully, and then select those that required a restart and updates those one by one. Generally speaking though, a disk issue is at the heart of the problem. Please try this and let me know if it resolves the problem. If you have any issues during the process, please let me know.

I apologize, I neglected to provide specific instructions for booting from the startup disk.Insert the disk and Hold c or option/alt key down and tap the power button to boot from the 10.6 installer disk.
