Hello Tony, and thank you for choosing JUSTANSWER.com
If the drive just wont spin up, and the data is still on the spindles, then YES it is recoverable.
However, the spindles need to be removed from the hard drive and inserted into a WORKING housing, which would require a CLEAN ROOM. Any microscopic dust on the spindles, and it WILL destroy data.
I have only had to do this one other time in my life, and it cost me over 3 grand for them to recover just over 100 GB of data.
Almost all data can be recovered, just not at home. It has to be done in a lab, with a CLEAN ROOM. That stuff is VERY expensive.
I have provided a couple links you can check out, related to this service that can recover data from broken hard drives.
Not bad.....it would seem that prices have come down since i had my drive recovered, about 5 years ago.
Seagate is a hard drive manufacturer, so I'm sure they have the facility and the knowledge to do it. Price is good, and the company is reputable. Great Work!
I was happy to help!
