Click on the search box next to the start menu and type in restore.
Click on reset this system.
Under the revert to windows 7 option click on get started.

It said I could not go back to Windows 7 because some of the files needed have been removed from the PC. That's news to me as I haven't removed anything.

That is not good and would mean we have to do a factory reset to go back to windows 7. You would want to back up any personal files, folders, pictures, music, and videos first as everything gets erased. You can not back up programs you would need to reinstall them. In order to do this I need the model of your computer.
