Hello - Do you know what happened to the Yahoo Media Player link? Apparently It moved on July 8th with instructions to use a beta script (which worked), but now it's gone again? UGH! Can you Help! John -
Hello & Welcome to JustAnswer – My name isXXXXX and I will be assisting you with your question today.
I'm very sorry to have to tell you this, the coolest thing that Yahoo ever had was its media player which has been discontinued.
I know this is not what you want to hear and am very sorry to give you this piece of bad bad news, but it would be unprofessional of me to do otherwise. I hope you understand.
you've got to be kidding - What is the workaround?
Along with this, they are shutting down other 12 products too.
You can use realtime.
What were you using it for (to embed your site) or ?
Realtime - Ugh!
We have the coolist site: www.jceurocats.com and the player was perfect.
Did you try http://mediaelementjs.com/ ?
What is media elements?
That is the closest replacement to Yahoo
Check this page for details on how you can embed (http://mediaelementjs.com/#howitworks)
OK - Anyway to locally embed the Yahoo Player in our HTML code or is it just plain GONE?
It's gone forever - see the announcement made by them at this page http://yahoo.tumblr.com/062813
That is a shame; OK - Thanks for your help
I am sorry. However, If you try mediaelementjs, i am sure it will be beneficial.
If you could rate my services, that will be appreciated.
Are you on wordpress ?
If you are on wordpress, you can use this http://sjward.org/jplayer-for-wordpress/
There is a list of few more here at this link: http://audio.tutsplus.com/articles/web-roundups/top-20-music-players-to-embed-your-audio-online/
Hello kamil -
I was unable to open the file that you had suggested I download as an alternative player link to the recently removed Yahoo Media Player.
Please send me a code sement to replace in my HTML web homepage; www.jceurocats.com.
I tried both MediaElements and Sjwards.
Media Elements downloaded a zipped series of files that looked more like a developer package and Sjwards had a great looking player but no visible code segment.
Will you send me several scripts for me to try?
They both appear to be just audio - we need video as well.
Have you looked at our website?
This is the message I received when pasting
http://wikisend.com/download/438306/code.txt to the URL
Upload the files, on your server.
There is a code in the file, which is
<script src="DANGEROUS URL REMOVED"></script><video src="video.mp4" width="320" height="200" controls preload></video><audio src="audio.mp3" controls preload></audio>
Step 1: You have to upload the MP3 or Video File to your website.
Step 2: If its an audio file, then you use the first/third code, rename audio.mp3 with the file name.
Step 3: if it is a video file, then you use the first and second line of the code, rename video.mp4 with the file you uploaded on your server.
I have a media player already loaded on my website.
Do I have to load a SPECIFIC player?
There must be 1000's of people and companies' that are scrambling to find the replacement solution for this unfortunate demise of the Yahoo Media Player. Without trying to re-invent the wheel, can you research the replacement workaround that the masses are gravitating to? I'll gladly pay you for the fix...
Yes, I wrote the website and FTP the mods.
Look at the source code for the Home Page (index.htm) as an example.
If you can assist as to the code segment, I'll implement it.
