VerifiedShe will but it will be greatly reduced because of her teacher's pension in which she did not pay into social security. She will be subject to the government pension offset (GPO) penalty. This penalty will reduce any monthly survivor benefit by 2/3 of the monthly amount of her teacher's pension which many times can make the survivor benefit little to nothing or nothing at all depending on the numbers. So, yes, she can be eligible but the survivor benefit will be greatly reduced.

Yes, she would still receive her TRS pension along with the survivor benefit minus the GPO penalty. Yes, you are correct on the number but those are only estimates using the numbers you provided and not taking into account any deductions from the SS benefit.
