Ok, I'll give you the info. I am 69 (turning 70 in April) and will file for my benefit then. My last SSA statement estimates my benefit to be $3679/mo. I have my SSA statement from when I turned 66 and my benefit then would have been $2580. My wife applied (age 67) applied last year for her retiree benefit. She did not qualify for much because she has a teachers pension. So, her benefit was reduced (by the GPO calculation) from $348 to $148 per month. My question is, when I apply for my benefit next month, will her spousal benefit be recalculated with the GPO again? … read more
