There are several possibilities for decreased payment.

1) You have not reached full retirement age and you have had income over the limit allowed for earned income in previous years. The SSA is taking back some money.

2) The social security retirement income is not reduced, but the insurance premiums of your Medicare Parts B and D have increased. Therefore, your net deposit is reduced.

The Medicare premium can increase for two reasons. 1) Plan change, plan premium increases. 2) You income and taxable from two years ago increased on your tax return; therefore, your premium is increased, as well.

3) You have pension income which offsets your social security income. When that pension increases, the social security retirement income amount is recalculated.

Of course, you need to verify with Social Security Administration to make sure. To visit a local SSA office is the most effective way.
