Customer Question
I have been told...

I have been told that I can possibly increase my social security benefits by applying H.R.1 to my current benefit. I am 80 years old and I've received standard benefits since 1968. I am not disabled, or have any disability. Is there any way to increase my benefits?

Accountant's Assistant: Are there other sources of income (wages, interest, dividends, etc.)?

Even an increase of $50.00 would be a big help

HR1 is the new Tax law passed last year most of which takes affect this year 2018.

Can you be any more specific or provide anymore information as to what specifically you are referring to? I know of no such provision in the new tax law that would increase your Social Security benefits.

If there were any such provision in the new law, I can promise you it would be well published and front page news in most newspapers. I would be first in line to increase my own Social Security benefits.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

Please remember to rate my response as that is the only way the SITE will credit me with assisting you today.

Thanks very much,

Steve G.
