If as a spouse I received Social Security at age 62 and my qualified to get 50% of my husband’s Social Security when I turn 65. My husband is five years older than I am and has receive maximum Social Security since age 65

Thanks for our question. When you turn 65, you ARE entitled to one half of your husband's SS benefit. This is known as the spousal benefit. However, when you took SS at 62, your benefits were reduced by about 25% because you did not wait until age 65 to start. Likewise, at 65, your spousal benefit will also be reduced by about 25%. Therefore you will be entitled to receive the larger of the two benefits- whichever is greater. I hope this answers your question. Please accept my answer so that I am compensated for assisting you. What is the formula for computing the exact amount?
