Customer Question
I have a partially...

I have a partially finished application for social security benefits on line. It has an application date of 2/14/2018 on it. I did not submit it. I wanted to wait until my 63 birthday which is today. Should I start a new application using todays date ? I can not find an area to change the application date on the original.

There is no need to change application date -- that will make no difference.

But there is another question - when you want your benefit to start?

So you may choose the month when your fist benefit payment will be issues.

Please be aware that your FRA - full retirement age is 66 years and 2 months.

As you are starting benefits before that age - your benefits will be permanently reduced.

Let me know if you need any clarification.
