Hi. My name’s Lane …

I hold a law degree (J.D.), with concentration in Tax Law, Estate law & Corporate law, an MBA in finance, a BBA, and CFP & CRPS (Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist) designations, as well - I’ve been providing financial, Social Security/Medicare, estate, corporate, non-profit, and tax advice, to clients on three continents, since 1986.

I’m reading your question now.

Bear with me a moment while I type up my response.

….

Then if you have further questions we can go from there.

OK first, you won't miss a check. The systems's designed that way.

...

The reason it looks like you'll miss a check is becasue SSA payments (whether for disability or retirement) are paid in arrears. So the last SSDI check you'll get will be in March. Then the retirement will pick up in April as they've said.

...

And BOTH are designed to be paid based on where your birthday falls in the month, so the check/deposit will come on the same day.

...

On the spousal benefit, so sorry, but we can't "stack benefits," as Social Security calls it.

...

If it turns out that 1/2 of your husband's would be MORE than your current amount, the WILL take you UP TO the higher amount (by paying a combination of bother benefits)

...

But, so sorry, they won't add one benefit TO another.

I was told they would take the higher one on my ex-husbands i know i wouldn't get both i was just wondering since im 66 uf id be able to draw ofd his instead of mine
Social Security Expert: Lane, JD,CFP, MBA, CRPS replied 4 months ago

Yes, you certainly can. (just wanted to make sure ... MANY come here asking if they can add a spouse or ex spouse benefit TO their own)

...

Please let me know if you have ANY questions at all, before rating me.

If this has helped, and you DON’T have other questions … I'd appreciate a positive rating (using the stars on your screen, and then clicking “submit")

That’s the only way JustAnswer.com will credit me for the work.

But again, let me know if you need more here,

Lane
