1. if my spouse begins receiving ss benefits 6 months before her full retirement age (which is 66), will she be entitled to widow benefits if I die first?

I hope that you will live long enough and will enjoy your own social security benefits.

However - if you die - your spouse will definitely be entitled to surviving spousal benefits based on your working record.

She will be able to choose whether to continue her own benefits or to switch to widow's benefits.

Her benefits as a surviving spouse will NOT be more than benefits you are receiving. So if you are getting $1750 and if you die now - her widow's benefits will be $1750.
