Since you were born between 1943 and 1954 (you were born in 1952) your full retirement age is 66 years, 0 months. So as soon as you turn 66, you can start collecting your full benefit. Also, since you will be at full retirement age, you can continue working and not have your benefits reduced if you earn more than the Social Security Earnings Limit ($17,040 for 2018) there is no reduction in your benefits because you are earning income.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more, please let me know and I will be happy to answer.

Thanks! Have a great weekend! And Happy New Year!

Roger

I still don’t know how I go about collecting. What must I do.
Social Security Expert: taxmanrog, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) replied 6 months ago

There are three ways that you can start collecting your Social Security benefits.

You Can Apply:

  1. Online - Use the Social Security Retirement/Medicare Benefit Application to apply for retirement, spouse's, ex-spouse's or Medicare benefits. You can find this at https://www.ssa.gov/forms/apply-for-benefits.html
  2. By phone - Call Social Security at 1-***-***-****. ...
  3. In person - Visit your local Social Security office.

I personally think that the best way is in person at the Social Security office, but they can get very busy. You usually have to go there early in the morning, like an hour before they open, otherwise you wait in line for hours.
