Often, the funeral home will take care of notifying social security. If you want them to do that, you will need to give the deceased’s Social Security Number to the funeral director so they can make the report.

Otherwise, If you need to report a death, contact your local Social Security office or call 1-***-***-**** ( TTY 1-***-***-****). You can speak to a Social Security representative between 7 AM and 7 PM Monday through Friday.

Thanks for your answer, however, I think it is pretty sneaky for you to step in like that and make it look like we are paying SS not you. That is why the $5.00 was paid. The person is dead. There wasn't even enough money to pay for a nice funeral and then we take her last bucks besides. I am ashamed of people like you.
