Customer Question
I want to make...

I want to make an appointment with local ss office to get benefits when I turn 70.

Accountant's Assistant: These retirement benefits are supposed to help us but they can be so complicated! The Retirement Expert will help you get the most benefits propertly. Please tell me more, so we can help you best.

I'm currently receiving benefits on my husbands account. I turn 70 in Jan. and want to make an appointment with the local office to start my benefit.

Accountant's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Retirement Accountant should know?

Probably however I'm drawing a blank :-)

Hi. My name's Lane.

...

I'm sorry but you aren't talking directly to Social Security here. This is JustAnswer.com ... a web site that connects expert users in tax, law, finance, Social Security and other areas to those with questions in these areas.

...

I CAN, however, tell you how to set the appointment. Social Security no longer has (or no longer takes public calls from) local office number.

...

The only way to set an appointment is to call the National Social Security assistance line. They can set the appointment for you.

...

By calling 1-***-***-****, you can speak to a Social Security representative ... (Generally, you’ll have a shorter wait time if you call during the week after Tuesday) ... between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. THEY can set the appointment to go into the office of your choice.

The one other possibility would be into the local office and ask for an appointment. You'll likely come away with an appointment for a different day.

...

Please let me know if you have ANY questions at all, before rating me.

If this has helped, and you DON’T have other questions … I'd appreciate a positive rating (using the stars or faces on your screen, and then clicking “submit")

I hope that you’ll rate me based on my accuracy and thoroughness, rather than any good news/bad news content.

That’s the only way JustAnswer.com will compensate me for the work here.

Thanks,

Lane
