I received a letter from Social Security saying I may be able to get supplemental security income benefits. am wondering about this as I am receivibg civil service benefits from my years at the post office

It is certainly possible, if you had at least 10 years (40 quarters) of Social Security credits.

A provision in the Social Secruriy law called WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision) will reduce the benefit, but only by as much as 50% (depending on how many years you had working in jobs that paid into Social Security.
