Hi, my name is*****'m an attorney, and I get this question quite often. To obtain a replacement social security card, you may have two options: first, you can go to your local social security office. You will need to bring two pieces of identification to establish your identity and citizenship. They will accept a U.S. birth certificate or a U.S. Passport, and a U.S. driver's license or ID card. Alternatively, you may apply online if you have a driver's license from certain states. These are the states whose licenses that SSA will accept online:

    • Arizona;
    • Arkansas;
    • California;
    • Delaware (driver's license only);
    • District of Columbia;
    • Florida;
    • Idaho;
    • Illinois;
    • Indiana;
    • Iowa;
    • Kentucky;
    • Maine;
    • Maryland;
    • Massachusetts;
    • Michigan;
    • Mississippi;
    • Nebraska;
    • North Dakota;
    • New Mexico;
    • Pennsylvania;
    • South Dakota;
    • Texas;
    • Virginia;
    • Washington; or
    • Wisconsin (driver's license only).

If you do not have a driver's license/id from one of these states you will have to submit a new application for a replacement card. Here is a link to form SS-5 that you can download, print, and either bring to your local office or mail:

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide for you. If this is what you were looking for, Great and I'd appreciate a positive rating here. You can always return with follow up question at no charge. Thank you!
