If your case is been sent to the judge it means your application for disability benefits was denied on application, and that you are appealing that denial to the office of disability adjudication and review, which is where the judge resides in the process. Currently there is approximately a 17 month wait for hearing before judges, so I'm not sure if it's worth it to you to wait that long to get a hearing and decision but do note that if the judge rules in your favor you can get benefits retroactive to one year prior to the date of application; depending on when your disability arose. That being said, there's no guarantee a win so what you could do is apply for Social Security retirement benefits as early as age 62 and if and when you win a disability hearing your benefits can be altered retroactively… Because it disability benefits will be more than the partial benefits will get if you do early Social Security retirement application.

I believe this answers your question. However, if you need clarification or have follow-up questions regarding this matter, I will be happy to continue our conversation - simply reply to this answer.
