I'm so sorry, but not under Social Security itself.


However, there may be other options.


For example, NY offers “consumer direction” in their non-Medicaid assistance program. Consumer direction means participants can choose their own caregivers.


Paid caregivers can include friends and even family members, though most states exclude spouses from being paid.


Also, Medicaid pays for care at home, not just in nursing homes. “Consumer directed” programs allow participants to choose their own caregivers, which can include most family members.


Caregivers are paid the Medicaid approved rate of approximately $10 - $20 / hr.
