Customer Question

I am collecting social security, and I am a veteran. I was married for 19 years, and I just learned that when I was approved that I could have requested that I be approved for social security under my husband income since he made more then me. Can I go back and find out if I am collecting SSD under my x-husband income when I filed in 2006.

Hello, I would like to assist you with your question. In short, after 10 years of marriage (and subsequent divorce), you are entitled to the greater if Social Security benefits under your earned income or your ex-husbands. You would need to contact Social Security to determine if your benefits incorporated your ex-husband's earning.
