Hi. Great question - it would be full benefits, not on the reduced. Have a great day.

Thanks, ***** ***** talk with social security they say reduced rate how do I convince them otherwise

They may have additional information on his file, that we do not have. I would ask them why and get a reason for it - there may be something on his file. Would it be advantageous to collect on yours, instead - you may have a higher benefit.

Hi. Great speaking to you. I will send you additional information/links this afternoon. Best Wishes.

Hi. I looked. The issue that you and he took early benefits, the reduced rate stays in effect (the $1,300).

However - I found this article:

Under "Social Security Benefits for Divorced Women", 2nd paragraph -

"ex-husband is alive when a woman claims Social Security benefits on his earnings record, the auxiliary benefit (also known as divorced-spouse benefit) is effectively equal to one-half of the ex-husband's PIA.2"

PIA means:

The "primary insurance amount" (PIA) is the benefit (before rounding down to next lower whole dollar) a person would receive if he/she elects to begin receiving retirement benefits at his/her normal retirement age.

Does this mean I'm only entitled to half of the reduced rate ?
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I'm 71 now applying for the spousal benefit

The last paragraph notes that it is 1/2 of the full rate.
