I applied for social security survivor benefits for my late

Customer Question

I applied for social security survivor benefits for my late husband and was informed by Social Security that I wouldn't be eligible for the benefits because I was married to him for 9 years and 355 days instead of 10 years. What can I do about this?
JA: These retirement benefits are supposed to help us but they can be so complicated! The Retirement Expert will help you get the most benefits propertly. Is there anything else important you think the Retirement Accountant should know?
Customer: Not sure if he needs to know more except that currently I am struggling financially and am on government assistance with housing and food stamps
