Customer Question

My daughter's wallet was stolen and she has no ID. She needs a replacement ssocial security card but we have waited for hours to find out nothing we have qualifies as proof of age, identity, etc. My daughter is a 20 year old college student who can't do anything (work, vote) until we solve this problem. The people at social security have basically told her tough. She can't have a card. What can we do? She needs it to get a state ID and needs a state ID to get her social security card.

Hi. If it is a replacement card, she needs to show one proof of identity, choosing from the following:

  • Passport
  • License
  • Driver Card

If she does not have these, they will accept such items as employee i.d., certified copy of medical records, etc.

Here is some information -

Has she visited the local social security office - here is a link to find one near her -
