Medicare and Medicaid both have home care and home health care services to the seniors to help them stay at home. VA health care has similar services, as well.
Contact your local county's Department of Aging and/or Department of Health and Family Services. The services are provided to home bound seniors. They will make appointment to come to do evaluation. Then, assign qualified hours as needed. Also, the primary physician or any physician of the senior can order such services, most of the times, home health care services.
Each medicare insurance company has different criteria to qualify the elderly to start the service. Generally speaking, the traditional medicare is the best policy to qualify the seniors.
A caring plan will be developed based on the need of the elderly. The home care service is probably at the maximum 20 hours a week with 25/hour paid by the government or by the health insurance company to the care giver. Home care can do house cleaning, shopping or cooking for the elderly and companionship and reminder of medication. Home health care is health care with visiting nurse, physical therapy, and nursing aid in-home visits, etc.
