How do I go about applying for spousal benefits. We have been married around 40 years, but are separated for several years now. I am 69 years old.

Good afternoon,

I'm Doug, and I'm sorry to hear of the confusion. My goal is to provide you with excellent service today. In order to give you a clear and concise answer, I will need some additional information about the circumstances, please.

1. Are you getting a social security benefit of your own?

I get social security disability and was told I could draw social security from spouse even though we are separated. How do I go about applying for this benefit?

If you are 69, you can't possibly be getting social security because disability benefits SSDI end at age 66. You must mean that you are getting your retirement benefit.

Is your ex getting at least twice as much as a benefit then you are getting?
