Yes, so sorry, benefits cannot be "stacked."...See this from Social Security:..."If you qualify for benefits on your own record, we will pay that amount first. If the benefit on your spouse’s record is higher, you'll get an additional amount on your spouse’s record so that the combination of benefits equals that higher amount."...You can see that here, on SSA's site:...

Spousal benefits if taken at full retirement age are 1/2 of the worker's benefits....So if your benefit is, say, 1500/mo and she is receiving 500/mo on her own record....Once you file and she can receive spousal benefits, here total benefit will rise to 750
