The question is spousal benefits for SS. I currently receive $2400 at age 70. My wife is now 66 and full retirement age. We recently had an appointment at our local SS office. Here B- day is 01/28/54. Up to this point we were thinking she would qualify for 1/2 of mine as opposed to her own which would be $700. The law changed on 01/02/54 to eliminate the option and therefore they told her that the only option is to file her on her own, My sister who was born after my wife currently gets her monthly of $1,000 and an additional $250 from her husband which is conflict with what we were told.
