Customer Question

I'm 73, I'm receiving my SS already. I paid into SS all my work life. I started collecting a little before my full eligibility so I could continue to work part time. My husband died age 59 & I made too much to receive any from his SS. He did receive 6 months SS disability award, but died before he received it. I received it after he died. We had a 16 yr old that received SS Benefit until he was 17 yrs, 11 months. Would I be eligible for the "restricted application" benefit people are talking about?

Unfortunately you would not be because a restricted application is when a spouse applies only for spouse's benefits on the other spouse's earnings record and defers collecting on his/her own record. Since you are a widow and already receiving benefits on your own record you would not be eligible. When a spouse is eligible to file a restricted application, the spouse only receives 50% of the other spouse's benefit amount.
