What heppens when your SSI balance goes over the $2000

Customer Question

What heppens when your SSI balance goes over the $2000 limit?

The limit for countable resources when receiving SSI is $2,000 for an individual.

SSI claimants who exceed the $2,000 limit ($3,000 if married) are ineligible for benefits. If the value of your resources that they count is over the allowable limit at the beginning of the month, you cannot receive SSI for that month.

A repayment of SSI for the month may be required.
