Social Security Benefits---I apled one month before

Customer Question

Social Security Benefits---I apled for ss one month before receiving my first benefits. I applied in August 2016. I turned 67 on 8/10/2016. We received a statement this week from SS saying we received 25,770 in 2015. Our monthly benefits are 2100 and some change and our first SS deposit to our bank was made by SS in September 2015, 9/2015. Therefore, our total benefit should be approximately 8400. for 2015.
We went to our bank and asked them to print out a year of activity and they show deposits earlier than September 2015. We wer remiss in checking bank statments and only put them in drawers and checked our balances and so forth.
Neither my wife nor I are crazy or criminals. We did not receive that extra money or authroize the deposits, if there really were depoists. We are checking our totals now because we figure a crook would not allow the extra money to stay in our account and therefore we should be able to start tracking Soemthing.
