Im 67 and engaged but if married how will effect my ss. My husband died 31 years ago and I am on his ss not mine .

OK, you are engaged and currently receiving survivor benefits based on your husband's work record, it sounds like. You may have started at some age beyond age 60, typically (although there are exceptions).

Fortunately, being over 60 now, you CAN remarry and not have your survivor benefit effected (unlike if you were younger than 60). So Happy Nuptials! No worries. You would also have the option of receiving a spousal benefit instead of a survivor benefit, on your new husband's work record, if that amount were more favorable to you. However, since that amount is only 50% of his primary insurance amount, that is not the usual.
