Customer Question

I see that the law has change recently about claiming and suspending. However, apparently there's a 6-month window left to do this.
I'll be 62 in a week. Does I make sense for me and my wife (62 also) to do this?
I plan to work for several more years.

you do may use that opportunity - the deadline to file and suspend is April 30, 2016.

If you do that your spouse will be eligible to receive social security benefits before you reach the FRA (full retirement age)

Whether your spouse will benefit or not depends on your and her earning records.
If 50% of your benefits are MORE than her own benefits - she would receive larger benefits based on your earning record.
