Customer Question

My husband and I are in our 70s and his mom is 100+. We just received letters from SS indicating that our income for 2014 was so high that for 2016 SS is reducing our SS by a total of almost $11,000 a year for the three of us. In 2014 we finally sold our home in new york and that was the source of the income they are referring to. My question is can they do this? I thought that the sale of a house was not a deterrent to receiving SS.

Can you give me the exact wording of this language indicating that they are actually reducing your Social Security? Or do you mean SSI, supplemental security income?

It may help also if you tell me how much EACH of you receives per month.

Also, do any of you have Medicare? If so, who?

And do any of you have Medicaid? If so, who?
