I have enough points to get social security or social

Customer Question

I have enough points to get social security or social security disability but I lost my job due to glaucoma related accidents but the disease has not progressed enough for me to receive disability. I'm having a hard time finding work. Will I lose social security or disability if I don't accumulate points since I cant find work? thank you

Thanks for your question. You will not lose retirement benefits, but you have to have worked in the last 5 years to be eligible for disability. So, you will need to continue looking for work. However, do not be afraid if you do not find something immediately.
