What are the dates for enrolling and then suspending for 2016. My birthday is ***** 8 1950, and I'll be 66. I'd like to enroll and suspend with my 66 year old husband getting a spousal social security benefit from me. With the new budget agreement, there was a clause that might change this tactic.

Good morning, this is actually a still evolving piece of legislation.

Your spouse can file a restricted application for spousal only, since he is over 62. However, as you may know, file and suspend is ending in "6 months". This means that you can not file and suspend after 4/30/2015. (Unless they extend this out AGAIN.) But, you can't do it BEFORE that date because you will not be of full retirement age until 5/8. The deadlines are working against you.

Which suggests something else, perhaps: How about your husband filing and suspending, NOW (within the 6 months, before the right ends) so YOU can file a restricted application for spousal on HIS record, come 5/8/2016?
