I want to set down with a professional to discuss increasing

Customer Question

I want to set down with a professional to discuss increasing my Social security. WHY?
Because I worked 35 years for a a top 500 Company. Then when I turned 63 I called S.S. to determine what the payments would be at age 63 versus age 65. Then I begin receiving my SS payments promptly. When I called them to say "I NEVER intended to sign up at age 63, I was only comparing the payments." They replied "OH YES YOU DID, YOU ARE SIGNED UP AND THAT'S THAT."
Now I am age 87 (Born 7-03-1928). I have been a Minister of religion since age 19. For many years I held a full-time job and preached also. I am having health problems (T.I.A.'s) or mini-strokes. My doctor will not allow me to continue my ministry, I cannot drive my car and he says I must not live alone. I resigned my ministry after my last sermon on 7-12-15. NOW I NEED HELP TO GET MORE SOCIAL SECURITY. I have read that much more from SS may be available. Can U help me???

Thank you for your question, Alton. I'm sorry you find yourself in this situation.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to draw more from social security. Once you draw, you're locked in. If you mistakenly filed you would have had to pay back what they sent you and then re-filed when you were ready. Too much time (over 20 years!) has lapsed since you "mistakenly" started benefits. Further, disability is not awarded to anyone over full retirement age as only one benefit is available to anyone. I wish I had better news for you.

Please let me know if you need anything additional. If not, please rate positive.
