I worked 3 months in 2014 and started collecting Social Security

Customer Question

I worked 3 months in 2014 and started collecting Social Security in April. I paid $1428.74 in Social Security taxes for the 3 months I worked. I did not work at all for the next 9 months. I have read the earnings limit is $15,480.00 for the year of2014. Question: If I made more than the limit for the 3 months before I claimed Social Security benefit will I owe money to Social Security?

Did you reach full retirement age in 2014?
If so, the earnings limit does not apply for the year that you reach full retirement age.
