Although I am receiving social security at this time, my wife passed away on July 5th 2013, am I eligible to receive the benefits of her social security since she worked for many years ?

yes, you can apply for widows benefits, and be given her amount in full,

However, if your own social security benefits are higher, you would not receive her benefits.

If you just started taking benefits on your own, and you are under age 70, consider suspending your own benefits, and apply for the widows benefits, as your own benefits could be delayed until age 70, and you would receive the delayed credits at age 70. Which would give you a significantly higher social security benefits starting at age 70.
