Customer Question

Hello, I am 68 and drawing my SS benifit. My wife is 63 with a long, consistent work history and would like to apply for early retirement, delay the start of her benefit and draw the spousal amount until she is at full retirement age or beyond, depending on circumstances at that time. We have been married for 10 years and she has a previous marriage that lasted more than 10 years. I understand that she is eligible for this and could draw from either myself or her previous husband who is also retired and drawing his SS benefit. Could you please clarify. Thanks

Welcome to the site. I'mCustomer and will be helping you today.
I think the SSA rep was somewhat correct.
I want to look over the rules, and will advise in the morning.
