A good deal of this depends on her age. At 82 she can begin drawing 1/2 your benefit (without reducing your payments). Since this would be higher than she is presently receiving, if she is 62 or older you should go to Social Security to apply for this spousal benefit. When you pass she will immediately qualify for 1/2 your benefit instead of that she is presently receiving. She will then need to ask for that.
