Megan C :

Thank you for your question, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be happy to help you today

Megan C :

How are you doign?

Megan C :

You are entitled to the larger of your benefit, or 1/2 of his benefit while he is living. This is provided that you are unmarried.

Megan C :

If he passes away, you're entitled to the larger of his check or your check. The survivor benefit is 100% of his benefit

Customer: Do I need to know his SS # ? How much do I receive specifically?
Megan C :

We are not affiliated with social security, so we do not have access to his individual record so we could not tell you an exact amount. The process would go faster if you knew his social security number

Megan C :

Typically social security numbers are listed on tax returns and divorce decrees

Customer: I am unmarried and never remarried after the divorce.
Megan C :

Then you would get 1/2 of his benefit, if it is larger than your own benefit :-)

Customer: Let me find my divorce decree.....jus5 a minute. *****i can not locate it.
Megan C :

Okay :-)

Customer: What should I do now?
Megan C :

Your divorce decree would be filed at the courthouse where your divorce was finalized, you can get a copy from there

Megan C :

Or, you can look to old tax returns and see if his social security number is XXXXX on those

Customer: What do do now?
Customer: What do I do now?
Megan C :

You can get a copy of your divorce decree or locate his social security number, then visit your local office to see what benefits are greater

Customer: vz
Customer: What?
Megan C :

Pardon?

Customer: What do I do now
Megan C :

You need to get a copy of your divorce decree or tax return, and get his social - and then you can go to social security and see what benefits are available :-)

Customer: I am not finished. What do I do now?
Megan C :

I'm sorry, I don't understand - You need to get your ex's social security number, and then you go to social security and see what benefit is available

Customer: Thank you.
Megan C :

You're welcome
