Spousal benefits ? I am 83 and have been collecting So. Sec. since approx. 2000; my wife is 73 and has been collecting So Sec based on her former earned income only. As her payments are about one third of mine, could she get spousal support based on my former income? Note that we have only been married since 1997. If she can get spousal payments would these not affect my distribution. fyi my benefit after the Medicare deduction is approx @2550.00, my wife's current distribution is approx. $850.00.
