VerifiedHi, Carolee, my name is Stephanie and I thank you for your inquiry. I have been practicing SS law full time for 10+ years (all law for 19 years) and look forward to assisting you.
I receive Social Security Disability & had an increase last year effective Jan.1st when I turned 66 yrs. old. OK, that would be the COLA increase.
I have been receiving that same amount monthly; until I noticed on my Aug. bank statement ( I have my check deposited automatically ) that my payment was $250.00 less than what I normally receive. Hmm. Not got.
I have been receiving the amount of $1723.00 for 8 months now ~~ & for whatever reason that amount was reduced this month to $1473.00 ~~ a difference of $250.00!!
I received nothing to notify me of any reason why; & I pay for my own medicare advantage Ins. Meaning the $1723 is GROSS, before an Medicare deductions, is that correct?
- so it's not because I don't have medical insurance coverage. I understand.
I would be very interested in knowing what is going on, & the reasons given. I understand.
Also; weather this is a one time "glitch" or if this decrease is "ongoing" & more specifically ~~ a reason from Social Security in written form ( sent to me by U.S. mail ) as to their decision why. We are not the SSA, fortunately. But that also means I am not the boss of your SSA staffers at your local office. What I can do, however, is inquire of you some specific questions that can direct me to an answer as to Why (if this is not a glitch) or, Likely Glitch, go visit your local office. Please let me know if you would like me to start that effort with you, and I am happy to do so.
If it's a mistake on your end Again, we are not the SSA, you are on a site wherein lawyers and other professionals such as myself volunteer some of our spare time to provide information to visitors at a nominal fee paid to the site. Please let me know you understand that now that it has been pointed out, before we continue, OK?
~~ then when will I be reimbursed for the $250.00? These questions you will obviously have to direct to your local SSA office. But if you want me to seek to determine from you WHY this is happening, if it is NOT in error, I am happy to begin the legal inquiries to you.
Will it be added on to my next month's check, or will the $250.00 be sent to me seperately? See above.
