I will be 60 in Aug 12, and my husband will be 63 in july 12. He is still working in good health, thank goodness. Good.
I did not try for SSD because it is not just one thing but a combination of ailments, adding up to my being unable to work, slightly disabled in our opinion; Many impairments can be MORE convincing than just one, and the SSA must consider the combination, not just each on its own. If you believe you CAN NOT work at any job, can not put in an 8 hour day, 5 days/week, even if it is only a simple sedentary job, I would absolutely FILE and use as your alleged onset date a date as far back as you have been UNABLE to work (and not working).
Osteoarthritis in spine, knees and ankles, Diverticulitis (now post surgical and better) but have huge hernias from surgical site that cannot be repaired until I lose weight. I am on a diet, doing fair about 12 lbs per month. Wow, that is great! Can you share the name of the diet? I need to drop several myself, and my willpower is about nil.
The pain of osteo makes walking very painful. See what I mean. its not cut and dry for me. You clearly haven't studied the laws of SSD. Please do NOT wait. If you have a working history, you may be allowed to prove the disability and gain the benefits if you paid for them.
Also have anxiety attacks.
