Customer Question

I have an iPhone 6 and my wife has a iPhone 5. I recently updated her software and we started to get each others messages and phone calls. We fixed the message problem in settings but can't seem to even diagnose what's going on with the calls. We want to un-link these phones - how do we do that? Jim and Peg C

I'm sorry about the issue. Please try the following fix:

Method 1:

- On both iPhones, Settings app icon, then tap on option FaceTime (scroll down as needed), then turn OFF the option iPhone Cellular Calls.

Method 2:

- On both iPhones, open Settings app icon, then open the option Phone (scroll down as needed), then turn OFF the option All Calls on Other Devices.

Method 3:

- If that still does not work, if you and your wife use the same Apple ID account (using the same email address for Apple ID account), then create a new Apple ID account at the website below:

, then do the following on one iPhone only:

- Open Settings app icon, then open option iTunes & App Stores (scroll down as needed)

, then tap on the current Apple ID / email address

, then tap on Sign out

, then sign in with the new Apple ID account you've just created.

Please reply at the box below to continue troubleshooting. Thank you.

We have tried this approach before and the problem has come back a few times. However, this may be related to our updating the software on the phones. I have followed your instructions with regard to Face Time and now we'll have to wait to see if this fix is permanent. I have also turned off imessaging on both phones. Does downloading a software update impact these settings? I don't know why it would but it seems too much of a coincidence.

Yes, when upgrading software, it might reset some settings. You can set each phone to use a different Apple ID (email address). But usually if software update turns on the option iPhone Cellular Calls, then you just turn that off, then it should resolve the issue.

Please let me know. Thank you.
